The Oregon Coast

Simply incredible. I totally forgot how breath taking the Oregon Coast is. The last time I was here was at least three or four years ago. It definitely is worthy of increased visits.

It was so unbelievably warm out when I arrived that I thought I was still down in SoCal. The sun shining bright, big sets rolling in...made me wish I had brought my board up! There were a few guys near my hotel that were tearing it up. I thought that the water would be unbearable, but it isn't much colder than down in California.

After the long but scenic car ride out here, I was ready for some action so I took my buddy Kobi out for some sprints along the beach. Despite Kobi tiring out a little (he doesn't get much running in at home), I thought I was in heaven. The beach was wide open, very few people, and the most beautiful scenery to be found along the west coast, imho.

There's just something magical about this place. It's like something out of a Hemingway novel...just seems to be untouched from modern man. A place that I've read about many times where writers and artists go to for peace and quiet, to escape the routine of everyday life. I've never been to Maine, or anywhere in the Northeast for that matter, but I imagine that it's very similar to where I'm at now. Lighthouses, fisherman, friendly people...pretty amazing.

Only thing I have to complain about is the coffee maker in my hotel. I brought my own fresh grinds of organic fair-trade columbian only to discover this morning that it only takes those pre-made packets...one of man's less intelligent creations. It did get me to hop in the car with Kobes and go on a manhunt for a Starbucks or equivalent. What we found was a drive thru Dutch Bros. These things are brilliant...why aren't they to be found in Cali? We are a lazy bunch of rich people that avoid walking at all costs, so is this just an opportunity waiting to happen?

Well, looks like it's going to be a cloudy rainy day today, more typical of this region and time of year. Kinda cool to experience both ends of the spectrum in one weekend.

Ok, time to sign out. I now need to check an SD memory card my dog just tried to have for breakfast :)
